Borrowed Moments
In the age of selfies, technology allows almost anyone to pose for themselves with nothing more than a phone, while social media takes care of showing the world what the amateur photographer wishes to reveal about themselves. However, I have chosen to narrate precisely those moments that would hardly be of interest to the subjects of their own images—instants that seem insignificant compared to events like a wedding or a trip to an idyllic destination.The central aim of Borrowed Moments is simply to look around, to explore this immediate world until I uncover an ineffable element of our everyday lives and give it a language—the language of imagery. My intention is to claim a fleeting moment in another person’s existence and, through my photographs, reveal those instants that make up life itself but that, for most, may not seem worthy of close observation.I seek to narrate, through my lens, those seconds in which a person is caught doing “nothing” and, in doing so, give them a voice.The artist’s curiosity, therefore, is focused on moments that go unnoticed rather than on those that humans are accustomed to documenting as milestones in their journey through the world.
Momentos Prestados
En tiempos de selfies, la tecnología permite que casi cualquiera pose para sí mismo con solo un teléfono, mientras que las redes sociales se encargan de mostrar al mundo lo que el improvisado fotógrafo desea contar de sí. Sin embargo, yo he optado por narrar precisamente aquellos instantes que difícilmente serían objeto de interés para los protagonistas de sus propias imágenes, debido a su aparente irrelevancia frente a eventos como una boda o un viaje a un destino paradisíaco.
El objetivo central de Momentos Prestados es simplemente mirar alrededor, explorar ese mundo inmediato hasta descubrir un elemento inefable de nuestra cotidianidad y otorgarle un lenguaje: el lenguaje de la imagen. Mi intención es apropiarme de un instante fugaz en la existencia del otro y, a través de mis fotografías, revelar esos momentos que constituyen la vida misma pero que, para la mayoría, pueden pasar inadvertidos.
Busco narrar con mi lente esos segundos en los que una persona es sorprendida haciendo “nada” y, en ese acto, darle una voz.
La curiosidad de la artista, por ende, se enfoca en los momentos que pasan desapercibidos, más que en aquellos que los seres humanos estamos acostumbrados a registrar como hitos trascendentales en nuestro paso por el mundo.
